Take note people, this is history in the making. CC is the one who brought the guitar from a rhythm instrument to the fore front as a lead guitar instrument.
He was my absolute idol when I started out on guitar. When I heard my first Christian solo (7 come 11) I immediately threw away all my rock and beat records.
What Christian WAS was probably the most advanced soloist on any instrument at the time of his death, and by dint of his immeasurable contribution to the belop language, just about the only guitarist is jazz history to have had a profound effect on the way horn players and pianists approached things. Not to mention his enormous influence on blues players via T-Bone Walker, and on every Western Swing and hot C&W to follow him.
