It’s cute hearing all these school kids bragging on hitting double C’s and beyond as if it’s a bragging competition. No mention of feel or or groove or phrasing or any of the other components that make a true player and band mate. And no, I’m not saying this because I couldn’t scream back in the day (I could..we played a few Maynard songs), but that was never the main focus, though it did grab the audience’s attention. So before I get a bunch of “OK Boomer” replies (even though I’m not), just wanted to say it’s not a criticism, per se, because I appreciate the work it takes to play in that register. Just that there’s more to it than that. Keep at it!
