She was all business but she also could be very witty. Late in her career she did a concert in Chicago with a band of young rock musicians and they said she rehearsed them until they were ready to drop.  She made a fortune with, and for, Capitol Records, who repackaged her first album about six times.  Her subsequent albums were every bit a stunning as her first album and she was more or less impervious to musical trends.

I was there, at the event! It was on 17th of December 1989 , in Brussels . Actually Yma sang 3 songs . Flamish TV asked Yma to perform for a TV spevial that would be aired December 31th 1989 .She refused to come, but would do it only id there would be other gigs organized in Europe. So, she had a concert in Brussels and in Paris and TV apearences in Belgium, France ,Holland and Germany. I was at this TV registration and also at her oncert in Brussels ,where she offered me one of the concertposters . She signed it also for me . Still have it !
