I have loved this piece for literally decades. I can still remember being a high school girl and playing Vicki’s album while babysitting after putting the kids to bed. It has always been a favorite for me. Here I am 64 and listening to this sad song and trying to understand its appeal to me for all these years. It just now occurred to me that “duh, I like torch songs” but beyond that, I think I just have a love for great vocals with intense emotion. Dogs cover their ears when I sing so needless to say I cannot sing well. I truly love people with that gift of beautiful vocal ability. Vikki Carr has the gift in spades!! To top it off she is a marvelous human being. Genuinely!!! I can say that bcuz I had the immense pleasure of meeting her. It was purely an unplanned meeting and I caught Vicki just being Vikki. What a treat because she was an amazingly gracious and down to earth person. Without any doubt she is beautiful both inside and out!!
