I am the suck of air you take
That you’ve had many times before;
I am the blow you try to fake
But which still throws you out the door;
I am the air that fills your lungs
But leaves you emptier below;
I am the void that you can’t explain
But which is where you want to go
Flame sucks between the balls of steel;
Nothing moves, the air itself congeals
Look at the flame if you want to
Hear the sharp crack of the fission
Smell the brief vapour of ozone
Feel static motion
I am the love you try to hide
But which all can understand;
I am the hate you still deny
Though the blood is on your hands;
I am the peace you’re searching for
But you know you’ll never find;
I am the pain you can’t endure
But which tingles in your mind
Flame sucks between the balls of steel;
Nothing moves, the air itself congeals
Look at the flame if you want to
Hear the sharp crack of the fission
Smell the brief vapour of ozone
Feel static motion
I am the joy you really pay for
But which comes completely free;
I am your god on the final day
For the truth is you are me…
I used to do that, and still have lps of the time with numbers, against the title of tracks on the back, which I have slightly changed opinion on in places. if Im in a softer mood its refugees and out of my book, or heavier this and darkness, though even after the flood with its 21st century schizoid man riff can be ok at times
holy shit! I never knew Iron Maiden liked V.D.G.G!! in the song Brighter Than a Thousand Suns there is a lyric in which Bruce Dickinson sings Whatever would robert would have said to his god hahaha I love it!
Stumbled across this record years back. A scratched vinyl one. Heard some top punk bands were into vdgg even though some class them prog. Not my era even then but amazing. Always surprised me how this first record was overlooked and there later records rated higher. To me this is there best. There later stuff seemed a bit over indulgent and prog conceptish. Albeit I have not listened to all their records. This first one was a hidden gem.
