Back in 1952 I was stationed at RAF St Athens South Wales, whilstat the camp I took over the day to day running of the camp radio station introducing music of all types, and guest presenters of classical and jazz programmes. My own half hour slot was playing ‘modern jazz’ at that time in vogue was George shearing, Gerry Mulligan Dizzy Gillespie Charlie Parker etc. Normally I would present a request programme covering all types of popular music of the era, but one thing was constant , at the end of the day I would close down with this song, the Pied Pipers version of Dreams, a really lovely tune and a beautiful arrangement.I now play the Pied Pipers records on my MP3 player in the car
Even though everyone in this comment section is probably 3 times my age I really appreciate how music use to be way back before, I can only imagine the memories this brings back to the older generations.
