Nostalgia for me, makes remember high school, meeting Stan Kenton, playing this tune in concert at Fort Bragg. Anyhow, this rendition of Waltz is overly produced...sounds too studioish.

As a young Drummer, I was fortunate to pass the audition to attend Stan Kenton Jazz Camp at Michigan State University. Two hours out of every day, I sat with Dee Barton (Trombone player/Drummer) who had just finished writing this piece. My job was to create the individual parts for the trumpet section from the Directors copy, which contained all the parts for all the sections. I was there for the world premier at Michigan State at the evening concert. It was a fitting end to a VERY intense two week period. I was only out of Shaw Hall for about 10 minutes total in those two weeks. I was about 12 or 13.
