I find it quite unlikely that any pagans sacrificed to Thor before a battle. Odin was the god of war. According to Adam Of Bremen, who is not actually correct that often, but there is not many sources, so its at least one, according to him you sacrificed to Thor to avoid epidemics and famine. Thor was at least the common mans god, and the most common to worship. So a lot of the vikings/nordic pirates/traders had hammers of Thor.
