ONE OF JOHN LENNON’S FAVORITE SONGS WHEN HE WAS GROWING UP. Beautiful song written by Bernice Petkere in 1933 if I’m not mistaken. I’m guessing that Lennon may have been partial to the early version of this song sung by the voluptuous and haunting singer Ruth Etting though that is pure speculation on my part. But McCartney did mention this song in the liner notes for his “Kisses On The Bottom” which was his tribute to the type of music (Great American Songbook) his father played on the piano in the parlor of their Liverpool Home. Ruth Etting’s is my favorite vocal version. Loving Pat’s emanation of this standard as well.
