her voice is almost saxophone like with a very unusual and developed timbre. this is just gut wrenching. For those of you, who want to forever associate this song with Billie Hoiday there is no hope you will get this. But Helen Merrill so far outsang her and managed to keep her voice up through today. Billie Holiday burnt out like a short candle.
