Mr. Keegan introduced Gene Ammons to me when I was in my teen years. I would go over to my buddy John Paul Keegan’s house and his dad would school me on Jazz. He gave me the Gentle Jug as a musical gift that I could never forget. Thank you Mr. Keegan!! So much gratitude is owed to you. R.I.P.
Played this song on the jukebox everyTime i visited "Freemon and Harris Restuarant in Shreveport, La." Some of the best Soul Food cooked on the Planet. Closed now but wish they would reopen.
Grew up on this and many more classic recordings. Bless my father for educating me with out intent. I would lay in bed and hear the sounds of Mr Ammons ,Count Bassie, Billy Ekstine, Oscar Peterson, Carman McCrae, Dexter Gordon and so many more. Mr Ammons could make you hear the words of the tune because he sang through his horn. Loved his playing at 4.00am...... Miss you Pop! Miss life as it was back then.Sonny Stitt and Gene AmmonsOut in the cold again.........liston
