I am not really a fan of Frank Zappa. That being said........this fucking song blows me away! So much soul, so much feeling, you dont write music like this cause you wanna get famous, this comes from a deeper place, a more genuince and sincere place. I love this song up until the nonsense at the end lol.

maybe not so much in this version but in live versions and in his other guitar solo songs such as Chungas Revenge live I would compare Zappas guitar solos with Neil Youngs guitar solos (Like a Hurricane or Cortez the Killer) in that hes playing exactly what his mind is telling him to in that moment, all the time. it often sounds jagged and crude to begin with when hes just starting from a single idea but his ideas organically complexify and clarify, and every note along with it and in those moments when those ideas are at their highest/most complex it makes for some of the greatest guitar solos out there, arguably even better than the greats such as Maggot Brain and Machine Gun

I was lucky enough to see Franky with A Belew in Denver. We wuz high, mile high.

Aside from the SG, anyone know what setup he uses to get that sound?

Other guitar solos are “ok that’s cool he/she’s playing fast and clean and clearly knows their scales.” Frank Zappa solos “There is a meteor of feeling crashing through the atmosphere.”

Everyone else tries to play like this . So clean so tasteful , the best ever.
