The younger kids do not relate. I am old enough to have talked to some of the old vets from the Great War. My poor new born boy will not meet the best of us because the greatest of both world wars are gone.
Error at the beginning of the clip. From Australia, 50,000 served in Gallipoli campaign, 5482 killed in action, 2012 died of wounds, 665 died of disease, total deaths 8159, 17,924 wounded, 70 prisoners of war.Source: The Australian War Memorial
This is a marvellous song. I first heard it sung in the great version by The Pogues. I love both that and this original version. I live in England, and I am so envious that there are schools where this would be played after The Last Post on November 11th...instead we are told of "Our Glorious Military History".
On these kind of topics there are always the crybabies that complain. My country army is better, that is the wrong picture for this time in history, etc, etc, etc I enjoyed this vid (and cried) we need to get past the (my country done this) attitude and stand as humans against those who will profit from conflicts killing me, you, brothers sisters cousins so on so on so on And im an Aussie!! hide your beer LOL
