Hi, this is a good sample.. I recall hearing her in 1975 on the MET Broadcast she singing Manon Lescaut, produxtion that I re-opened in 1973. She was fantastic. My Manon with Gilda Cruz Rome, rest of the cast Fernando Corena and Mario Sereni.
C.M.
An adorable singer. Her voice had that Scandinavian gleam (she came from a Norwegian family) but it was never cold. She sang Puccini with a tenderness he always sought but does not always get.
There was once a Pelican LP of her radio work which probably included material from "Keepsakes".
The CDs above are certainly current except the EMI.
Besides the Preiser CD, there is a couple of lovely VAI CDs containig a lot of live material. The Metropolitan Opera publishes a compendium of her Victor and Columbia records, 1947-1955, available at their shop. EMI has an excellent collection of her Capitol musical comedy recordings. NO ONE sang Broadway tunes like Dorothy!
