bobby shafto was one of those man-made, manufactured pop singers of the sixties. he was supposed to make a million quid/pounds within a few years.he disappeared without trace.just like those brain-dead manmade pop "groups" of today. those stupid boybands.whatever happened to progressive rock? anyone remember?

I can report that Robert is indeed doing fine! After a period of recording these records he went on to have a successful West End career, most notebly as the lead in Jesus Christ superstar for a number of years in the 70s ->80s !

This is a fantastic song that just got lost in a sea of bigger artists. I was sat in a café in Blackpool in the early sixties and some girls in the café suddenly screamed its Bobby Shafto and ran after him down the street. I suppose he was performing at one of the piers. This song was a very minor hit in the USA for him and it did deserve to do better in the UK thanks for sharing this record, like others have commented after the original airplay I have never heard again

Great Song, just too many other excellent singles around at the same time for this one to get into the Top 20. Thanks for bringing back a great memory!

Great record. Bumped into Robert this morning - very lovely man, lively mind.

Outstanding tune from the Early British Invasion.  Bobby was a one-man "Dave Clark 5."  This received good radio play in the Washington, D.C., area, but as others have said, there was just way too much competition in 1964-65 to easily make your way into the Billboard Top Ten.  I had not heard this in 45 years until I encountered this upload.  Thank you!

Saw him on a package tour in 64/or 65? With the headliner Gene Pitney, The Kinks Gerry and the Pacemakers were on the tour too
