This is a gem. Just to see Rushing OUTSIDE of his usual big band environment is enlightening. You can hear how close his piano style is to those of Count Basie and the Kansas City and other South Western blues pianists. Pity he never recorded more piano numbers. I had the good fortune to speak to him briefly at a Duke Ellington convert in London in 1958.
